We kick off this sunny morning with the third-growth property, Château Calon Ségur, which we are delighted to offer and HIGHLY RECOMMEND @ £290.00 IB per case or £280.00 IB per case if 2 or more cases are purchased.

It's fair to say that Calon Ségur produced an excellent wine, which makes their offer extremely attractive – The critics' loved this wine – Steven Spurrier took it to another level by describing it as the "Lafite of Saint-Estèphe"

Jancis Robinson 17.5+
Deep crimson. Very different. Spicy sweet nose – very fluid. Quite a contrast to the austere Montrose we have just tasted! Quite rich and supple and fireworks. Round and rather glorious though not at all tarted up. Very fresh. Firm and with great spin though no compromises. Very classic. A very confident vintage for Calon-Ségur. Drink 2018-32

Neal Martin 90-92
Based upon 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has a deep garnet core. The nose has a distinct earthiness to it. Blackberry, a touch of pain grille and black pepper. A little rustic but charming. The palate is full-bodied, firm tannins, quite spicy and lively, blackberry, a touch of raspberry coulis and wild strawberry. Firm grip, masculine as always. Fresh with a touch of soy towards the bitter "chunky" finish. Quintessential Calon. Tasted March 2009.

Decanter Magazine (Steven Spurrier) 18.5
Deep purple, pure, rich and aromatic blackcurrant fruit with a touch of wild roses, extremely elegant, harmonious with immense charm and sufficient depth to last a long time. The Lafite of Saint-Estephe. Drink 2015-30.

Château Suduiraut (Sauternes 1er Cru Classé) is also offered @ £420.00 IB per case. . . This Château has received consistently high scores from James Suckling (90-93), (18.0) from Decanter.com and 17.5 from Julia Harding/JancisRobinson.com. . .

This afternoon sees two releases from the Right-Bank. . .

First up is Château la Conseillante, which we can offer @ £495.00 IB per case or £485.00 if two or more cases are purchased. (*NB: 2007 was offered @ £600.00 IB per case & the 06 is currently selling for around the £750.00 mark)

James Lawther MW (Decanter.com) describes the 2008 as "Close in style and quality to the very good 2006. Has a bright, lively expression of fruit, mid-palate density and fine, fresh tannins. The 90% oak is well integrated" and awards 17.5.

James Suckling awards (90-93) and says "Blackberries and other black fruits on the nose. Full and compacted, with lots of ripe and silky tannins. Long and structured. Very pretty wine. 86 percent Merlot, 14 percent Cabernet Franc".

Next up is another Pomerol Château, Petit Village, which we can offer @ £300.00 IB per case. . .

Jancis Robinson seems a fan and awards a respectable 17+
Very deep blackish crimson. Meaty/yeast extract. Very sweet. Rich. Lively. Not the sweetest Pomerol 2008 but very dense. Energetic and lively. Big improvement on some past vintages. Very positive and structured but with good flesh and concentration. Long. Cool, fresh, succulent, limpid and not forced. Very slightly rustic but lots of personality – a success!
