This week begins with two delicious & early drinking class growth Châteaux from St-Julien. . .
Château Gruaud Larose (2eme Cru Classé)
Château Gruaud Larose (2eme Cru Classé) is available @ £300.00 IB per case. . .
Neal Martin describes it as "Undeniably drinkable and delicious" and James Suckling from the Wine Spectator echo's the wines early drinkability "Soft and round, with lovely texture. Medium- to full-bodied, with berry, currant and chocolate flavors and a long, caressing finish. Delicious already".
Château Talbot
Château Talbot, which is available @ £255.00 IB per case is a popular wine and delivers good quality at affordable prices. . .
Decanter.com awards ****stars "Intense deep red, good intensity of fruit, slightly floral and lifted, quite meaty middle palate and good ripeness overall, good Saint-Julien for medium term"
Château Lagrange
Château Lagrange crept out on Friday @ £250.00 IB per case. . . I personally feel that the Château has over-valued itself this year and would not recommend purchasing the 2007 (88-91 R. Parker). . . However, the 2006 received a glowing review from Parker (91-94), which is a higher score than the 2005, 2003 & 2000 vintages. . .
"The 2006 Lagrange competes with the finest wines of the appellation. One of my pet peeves with this wine is that the oak is often excessive, but in this vintage, it is beautifully integrated, allowing the sweet cassis, licorice, herb, and spice box notes to dominate. Ripe and medium to full-bodied with moderately sweet tannin, abundant fruit, and a long finish, it is similar to the 1996 Lagrange, with perhaps more fruit".
We can offer 5 x cases 2006 Château Lagrange @ £250.00 IB per case. . .
