Château Angélus
This morning see's the release from Château Angélus (90-93 Parker), which has emerged as one top Saint Émilion's in recent years. The Château has made some efforts to reduce their price compared to last year's (24% against our buying price) however, the opening price of £1,035 – 50.00 IB per case still doesn't cut the mustard with us. . .
Put simply, the 2007 does not represent good value as both the 2003 (93 Parker) and 2004 (95 Parker) vintages are available at £950.00 IB per case. . .
Château Leoville Las Cases
This morning also see's the release from the last 'super-second' Château Leoville Las Cases, which we are delighted to offer and highly recommend @ £925.00 IB per case. . . This is a seriously good offer particularly considering the whopping reduction against the 2006 opening price (432.00 Euro's per case.) There is no hiding, Leoville Las Cases wants to be elevated to the 'first growths' and often punches well above it's weight. . . They've done it in 2007.
Robert Parker awards (92-95) which topples every first growth, second growth, Le Pin and Petrus.
Neal Martin awards (94-95), which places the Las Cases in front of Châteaux Latour, Lafite, Mouton & Haut Brion. . .
"A very deep purple/garnet hue. The nose is very closed at first, with scents of black cherries, blackcurrant, cassis, violets and a faint hint of blood orange. The palate is full-bodied, very well-balanced with incredibly pure fruits. Filigree tannins, cohesive, superb weight and here, one of the few wines with that peacock's tail of flavours on the finish, really lingering to reveal hidden nuances. Lush black cherries, vanilla, blueberries and again that tang of sweet, juicy blood orange. Great length. A wily, feminine Las-Cases. Très bon"
This will sell quickly – Please revert ASAP if you wish to acquire this super wine.
Château Pavie
Controversy usually surrounds Gerard Perse's Château Pavie however, the 2007 has bought the worlds wine critics to an unusual agreement – They simply love it, even Jancis Robinson, which is a rare accolade for Pavie! We are delighted to offer the 2007 @ £1,225.00 IB per case. . .
Robert Parker 93-95
Neal Martin 94-95
"A deep black/purple colour. The nose is very backward, good definition but perhaps just a degree over-ripe with touches of plum jam and tinned prune becoming evident with aeration. The palate is full-bodied with super-ripe tannins, very good depth and persistency with a vibrancy that I found missing in the 2006. Very pure on the multi-layered finish with great focus. I have to admit, this is really very good for the vintage"
Jancis Robinson 17+
"have already written about my enthusiasm for this wine when I tasted it blind. This was my note: Very deep crimson. High volatility. Masses and masses of purple. Very heady and rich - shows the 2007 signature of under-ripeness not at all. Absolutely pushed to the limit of ripeness with lovely balancing freshness and well handled tannins. A very successful juicy, refreshing wine that seems out of the 2007 mould. Presumably picked very late but with good work on the tannin management. Finishes a little suddenly but definitely superior. With some real core and concentration to it.And here's what I wrote when tasting it sighted at the château: Very dark. Lively, sappy, gentle, not too dry. Lots of fruit but supple too. Not hot or sweet. Very zappy and sappy. Picked 8-13 Oct, ie later than most, but not exaggerated. Cool finish. Long, slow ripening (145 days). No excess of warmth. 65% new oak. 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon."
Bellevue-Mondotte
Gerard Perse has also released Bellevue-Mondotte, which is Parker's highest scoring (94-97) red of the entire vintage – Production/& allocations is feverishly small but we can offer a few cases @ £1,630.00 IB per case (first come first basis). . .
Pavie Decesse
Pavie Decesse is also offered @ £980.00 IB per case. . .
92-94 Parker
92-94 Neal Martin
