This morning has kicked off with a flurry of releases following France's long weekend off.
Château Larrivet Haut Brion Blanc
Château Larrivet Haut Brion Blanc (Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé) one of the Haut Brion properties, is available @ £210.00 IB per case. The dry white Bordeaux are undeniably fabulous this year and Larrivet Haut Brion Blanc comes highly recommend. . .
Parker précis of the dry whites:
"2007 is undeniably a fabulous vintage for white Bordeaux. The fruit was harvested under textbook conditions, and made from fully ripe Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Muscadelle".
Jancis Robinson also awards a creditable 17-20
"Serious, ambitious wine - quite exotic"
Château Larrivet Haut Brion Rouge
Château Larrivet Haut Brion Rouge (Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé) isn't an attractive proposal in my opinion as the wine lacked fruit and freshness. . .
Château de Fargues
Château de Fargues (Sauternes) has made a very successful 2007 however, the opening price of £750.00 is very difficult to comprehend and recommend.
Neal Martin from the Wine Advocate awards de Fargues 94-96 point, which is very impressive however, it's £500.00+ more expensive that the same highly rated Châteaux Doisy Daëne & Doisy Vedrines, which are still available at £240.00 and £210.00 respectively and do still appear to be very attractive options. . .
**We can't recommend them enough.
Château Rouget
We are delighted to offer the two well made Pomerol's, Château Rouget @ £195.00 IB per case.
Jancis awards a creditable 17/20
"Sweet and mellifluous and lively with some freshness. Well done! Good balance. Long".
Château Gazin
Next is the attractive Château Gazin @ £315.00 IB per case. . .
James Suckling (88-91) describes Gazin as being
"Extremely pretty for the vintage, with chocolate, berry and light coffee aromas and flavors. Medium body, fine tannins and a delicate finish. Very well done"
