94-96 Robert Parker
"This estate, which has been on a qualitative crescendo for over ten years, has made a prodigious 2010 that ranks alongside their 2009, 2005 and 2000. A gorgeous fragrance of spring flowers, cedarwood, black and red currants and hints of spice box and subtle oak is followed by a generously endowed, full-bodied, opulent wine with layers of concentration, a restrained yet exuberant personality, superb fruit purity and a long finish. There is plenty of tannin, no doubt elevated alcohol and wonderful freshness as well as delicacy. This beauty should drink well for 25 or more years".
93-95+ Neal Martin
"The Malescot Saint-Exupery has a very well defined nose, very precise with good mineralité. Blackberry, cedar, graphite and limestone, great focus and aromatic "bravura". The palate has a ripe, fleshy entry, quite noticeable new oak but there is sufficient fruit to support it. Seamless texture with dark cherries, blackcurrant, a touch of graphite and cedar towards the finish that is more "classic" in style than the entry. This has great potential and could turn out to be better than the 2009. Tasted April 2011".
96-97 James Suckling
"This is a 2005 Malescot in the making. And that was stunning. I love the blueberries, chocolate and nuts on the nose and palate. The finish lasts for minutes with so much . Goes on and on. I want to drink this! Wow"
We also have Domaine de Chevalier 'Rouge' & 'Blanc' which are offered @ £565.00 IB per case and £740.00 IB per case respectively.
James Suckling awards a near perfect 99-100 for their white "This is a remarkable wine with a density of fruit that reminds me of a Montrachet from a great vintage. it's full bodied, dense and rich -- almost oily -- but then it turns bright and fresh with a powerful backbone of acidity. A marvel"
'Rouge' Scores...
18.5 Steven Spurrier
"Masses of beautifully concentrated fruit, nose already very expressive of vineyard class and perfect ripeness, already richly smooth and the tannins will ensure a long and elegant life ahead. Drink 2015-30".
93-95 Neal Martin
"Tasted three times, the Domaine de Chevalier has great precision on the nose with pure dark blackberry, dark plum, black olive compote and crushed flowers. The palate is just superb, mainly because of the crispness and tension in the tannic structure, framing a very precise, very focused Domaine de Chevalier that should age beautifully. It is almost understated but with great mineralité on the finish and superb persistency. Watch it blossom in bottle. Tasted April 2011".
95-96 James Suckling
"This is the most structured and powerful DC in a long, long time. Full bodied, with polished and rich tannins and a long finish. Tasted twice. The rising star of Bordeaux"
We are delighted to offer and highly recommend Fonbel @ £160.00IB per case which is owned by the Vauthier family (Château Ausone)
Next up is Château Mouton Rothschild's white wine, Aile d'Argent which we can offer @ £570.00 IB per case...
Over in Saint-Emilion we can offer Château Barde-Haut @ £240.00 IB per case
91-94 Robert Parker
"Readers looking for an exuberant, nearly flamboyant, exceptionally well-made St.-Emilion should check out this effort from the Garcin family, which has done such a fabulous job with their Graves, Haut-Bergey, and Pomerol, Clos l'Église. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from a beautifully situated vineyard near Troplong Mondot and Trottevielle, this cuvee reveals terrific fruit on the attack, mid-palate and finish. Abundant cassis and black cherry characteristics are presented in a juicy, savory, broadly textured style. The vintage's freshness, precision and zesty acids give uplift to a big, opulent, fleshy wine. Consume it over the next decade or more".
NB: Our earlier offer for Château Pontet Canet at the 'opening' price is now sold out. Second-tranche is available @ £1,350.00 IB per case
