We begin Wednesday with the highly rated First Growth Sauternes, Château Rayne Vigneau, which we consider to be fantastic value, particularly in this excellent vintage for the sweet wines. This comes highly recommended by us and we are delighted to offer it @ £220.00 IB per case.
It's also highly rated (19/20) by David Peppercorn MW on Decanter.com
"For the second successive year this wine has reclaimed its place at the very highest level. Once again there's a lovely purity and richness on the nose, with wonderfully complex lemony fruit, marked by outstanding elegance and finesse - a great wine. 5 stars."
92-95 by James Suckling of The Wine Spectator.
"Lively aromas and flavors of green apples, limes, papaya and honey. Full-bodied, yet balanced and medium sweet. Spicy and rich. Very long. Rayne-Vigneau is making better wine each vintage."
Jancis Robinson MW 17
"Pale greenish gold. Rich and sweet with some green notes. Quite aggressive. Very youthful. Citrus and racy. Could come right in the end – very youthful now. Lots of refreshing acidity".
Château Cantemerle
Château Cantemerle the classed growth (5eme Crus) Medoc is also available @ £155.00 IB per case. Robert Parker rates the 2007 at 89-91, which is the same as he rated the 2005 (currently selling at £195.00). We think this represents fantastic value for a classed growth Bordeaux. . .
