Today, we are seeing more releases from Sauternes. First up, Château Guiraud, which we are delighted to offer @ £380.00 IB per case or £395.00 IB per case of halves. Guiraud receives consistently glowing views.
Wine Spectator 95-98 "This rocks with botrytis, offering spicy almond, peach pie and dried apricot on the nose and palate. Full and very sweet, with a long finish. So much dried fruit. Oily and powerful. Some bitterness. 35 percent Sauvignon Blanc and 65 percent Sémillon"
Château Sigalas Rabaud, which is offered @ £365.00 IB per case receives an impressive score from Neal Martin (95-97) who describes "The Sigalas-Rabaud has a well defined nose: grapefruit, nectarine, honey and lime, much more primal than some of the other 2009s. The palate is very well balanced with excellent acidity: apricot, honeysuckle, a touch of orange zest and then vibrant white peach bursting across the finish with lime flower and lemongrass on the aftertaste. Wonderful persistency, power and freshness. Without question: the 2009 is the best Sigalas-Rabaud that I have tasted and this nectar comes highly recommended"
Château Lafaurie Peyraguey (92/94 Neal Martin) is out but we see little point in you paying £350.00 when Chateau Doisy Deane scores 96-98 from Neal and is £45.00 cheaper per case! Doisy Védrines (one of my favourites) receives exactly the same score and is a bargain @ £240.00.
