4 June 2008
This morning kicks off with four notable releases:
Château Rauzan Segla
The highly rated second growth from Margaux, Château Rauzan Segla is offered at a very fair price of £375.00 IB per case. . . The 2007 has received consistently good reviews from the leading critics:
92-94 Neal Martin
"This takes time to wake up in the glass so I give it five minute to evolve. It has one of the few sensuous Left Bank noses with ripe raspberry, wild strawberry and a touch of oyster shell. Very well defined. The palate is very cohesive with physiologically ripe tannins with notes of ripe raspberry, minerals and a touch of mulberry. Almost Burgundian on the sumptuous finish. Very classy"
4 Stars from Decanter Magazine
"Intense purple-red, very fine fragrance on the nose, lifted Cabernet fruit and shows lovely florality and elegance, very good depth of fruit on the palate, combining ripeness and precision and purity, a wine that already shows extremely well and can only improve". Drink 2013-25. 4 stars.
Château La Conseillante
The delicious Château La Conseillante, which is situated perfectly along side Châteaux Cheval Blanc and L'Evangile, is offered @ £600.00IB per case. . . Neal Martin enthuses over this Pomerol's breeding and suggests that it should merit a higher score after bottling.
91-93 Neal Martin
"The nose is very backward with a very savoury, coffee-scented nose. It almost seems under-ripe at first – but it is not. The palate is tannic, very well balanced and delineation with no signs of greenness. Nice grip, grainy, bright blackberry and raspberry with a touch of plum towards the finish. Very focused and great length. Shows its breeding in a difficult vintage. A quietly impressive Pomerol, one that should gain a higher score after bottling".
Château Léoville Poyferre
The second growth, Château Léoville Poyferre is hot on the heels of Léoville Barton's release of yesterday and is offered @ £355.00 IB per case. . .
Château Haut Bailly
And finally, we are delighted to offer the very well received Graves property, Château Haut Bailly @ £350.00 IB per case. . . The 2007 has received some excellent reviews:
90-92 Robert Parker
90-92 Neal Martin
16.5 Jancis Robinson
17.0 Decanter Magazine
